It's not always easy to stay positive but it's important to find time to do the things that make you happy. One 'youtuber' I have been loving at the moment is Steph (https://www.youtube.com/channel). She has just hit 10,000 subscribers so go and check her channel out; I could watch her videos for hours! Steph made this TAG and I really liked the idea so thought that I would do it myself to spread some happiness. I tag anyone reading this!
Q1. What food makes you happy?
ICE-CREAM! I just can't resist a bowl of Ben & Jerry's and it never fails to make me happy.
Q2. What movie makes you happy?
I absolutely love the film Elf and I watch it all year round even though it is a Christmas film! This film makes me happy because it is hilarious and I always watch it with my family in the build-up to Christmas.
Q3. What song makes you happy?
If we are talking about songs currently in the charts I would have to say Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson ft Bruno Mars because the tune is so upbeat. However, any song by Ed Sheeran makes me happy because I he is so talented at the guitar and they remind me of my sister.
Q4. What item of clothing makes you happy?
Does my watch count? I wear it everyday and was really happy when I got it as a Christmas present from my Granny. (I couldn't find the link online but it is from asos)
Q5. What's your happiest memory?
It's hard to chose a specific time but I remember having so much fun with my sister and cousins at my auntie's wedding a few years ago and more recently I had a great time when I went to Madrid with my school.
Q6. What beauty product makes you happy?
All of my Real Techniques brushes! They just apply my make up so nicely and the Real Techniques Expert Face brush makes my foundation look so flawless.
Q7. What do you do to make yourself feel happier when your down?
I usually watch some of my favourite 'youtubers'; Essie Button always makes me smile and more recently I have been loving Steph's videos. Sometimes if that doesn't help if the weather is nice I go for a walk or bike ride in my village.

When it comes it to hair, I try and keep the maintenance pretty low key. My hair type is very thick but can have the tendency to go greasy in the roots. I used to be very self-concious of this but have found ways to manage it. Using dry shampoo in between washes really helps to combat grease whilst adding volume at the same time- so I would recommend investing in one regardless of your hair type. Another solution I have found is to regularly change your pillow case and every week or so use a clarifying shampoo. The one I like to use can be found in Boots for £3.89 (TRESemme-Cleanse-Renew-Deep-Cleansing-Shampoo)

To say my hair gets knotty would be an understatement! Over the years I have struggled with finding a brush that will get through my mane. The only brush that works for me is the Tangle Teezer (Tangle-Teezer-Original-Professional-Detangling-Hairbrush) This brush is so great I would recommend it to anyone. Not long ago I discovered the Denman-Shower-Massage-Brush which I use when I have applied my conditioner. When I wash the conditioner off it leaves my hair feeling really soft and de-tangled. Another product that has helped me to manage the tangles has been the Pantene leave-in conditioner which I use after the shower on wet hair.
When I'm not using a clarifying shampoo and conditioner I like to use the Garnier Fructis shampoo and conditioner (which I couldn't find online but I brought mine from Superdrug). I don't really have a favourite when it comes to everyday shampoo and conditioners but I have tried many and I've found that generally Pantene works well for my hair type.
This is my current routine that I have been using for a few months but it probably won't stay the same as I like to change up the products I use. I get into bed and make myself all cosy; head just landed on the pillow, when I remember I've left my makeup on, or forgotten to moisturise. I'm afraid to say this has become a regular occurrence. But when you've had a long day at work or school it is easy to forget, you must agree? My solution to this problem has been to keep 'minis' by my bed so that there is no excuse to sleep with my makeup on...

I purchased both of these lip products from a really great website called Fragrance Direct where you can find loads of discounted or discontinued beauty products - high end or drugstore! The Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in the shade Across the universe was £1.99 and the Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick in the shade 130 Peach Juice was also £1.99. You can buy the Rimmel lip lacquer in Boots and Superdrug, however I think the particular shade of Maybelline lipstick has been discontinued because I haven't managed to find it in store.
I saw a friend of mine wearing this Essie nail polish and thought it looked really pretty and had been 'umming' and 'arring' whether to buy it or not. But when I saw they had the colour I was after on fragrance direct for £2.49 I had to pick it up. I got the shade Mademoiselle but they also have loads of other really lovely shades available.
I was on the hunt for a new foundation because mine were on their last legs so I picked up the Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude Foundation (£7.99). I'd heard a few people say good things about it and I'm a huge fan of Rimmel foundations so I thought I'd give it a go.
Whilst I was buying the foundation I noticed Boots had stocked up on their Collection Lasting Perfection Concealers (£4.19) so even though I didn't really need it, I grabbed one whilst I had the chance!
Lastly, for my birthday I had a Benefit voucher and so I went into Debenhams. The ladies in their were really helpful and I ended up getting the boi-ing concealer (£17.50) because it's really high coverage and will be great for covering up those pesky spots and blemishes. The lady also said it would work well for the under eyes as well because of the creamy formula.
I hope you have enjoyed today's post; even if it means my bank balance is in the minus! Whoops. I guess I'll be avoiding Boots and Superdrug for a while. Have a great weekend and I'll see you next week.

Christmas is by far my favourite time of year to shop in Lush. It's also my favourite time of year to have baths. So when the to come together I tend to go a little crazy and start my own 'Lush shop' on the bathroom shelf - as my sister likes to put it. Anyway, a lot of you probably like lush too, and it's nice to know I'm not the only one who gets a bit carried away.
Most of these were kindly given to me as gifts from my friends and family; with my birthday being so close to Christmas I tend to receive a fair few bath bombs as presents, although I did purchase some myself. Over the Christmas holidays I have used up some of them already. My sister gave me Dashing Santa bath bomb for Christmas and I also got Think Pink bath bomb (so if your reading and wondering why they're not in the post it's because I have already used them!)
Ickle Baby Bot bath bomb and Space Girl bath bomb are from the permanent range at Lush so can be brought any time of the year.

When I was in Germany this summer I can't deny the fact that I went a bit crazy in their drugstore - whoops! I noticed that the Maybelline Baby Lips were the same price in Germany as they are in England but it worked out cheaper because they were obviously in euros. I ended up getting 'Pink Punch' and 'Cherry Me' but my favourite by far has been 'Pink Punch'. I love the formula and colour pay off of these. Definitely want to get more of the Maybelline Baby Lips.
In BUDNI (the German drugstore) I also picked up an eyeshadow trio from 'Wet'n'Wild' in 'Walking on Eggshells' because I don't think we have them in England, (although my cousin told me you can get them in Ireland). When used with a primer the shadows stay on all day and the pigmentation is great. They are a really smooth texture and at €3,99 you can't really go wrong!
MUA blushers have always been a favourite of mine. You can buy them in Superdrug for £1 and there small packaging makes them perfect for travelling. I've been getting a lot of use of the shade 'Bubblegum' this month; a dusty pink colour.
Last but by no means least is Mac 'Omega' eyeshadow. I really don't know what I would do without this product. I use it everyday with the 'Real Techniques Brow Brush' to fill in my brows and it is just the most natural and perfect shade I have found to use to fill in my brows without making them look drawn on or fake. This shadow is also great to use in the crease for a natural eye look. If you are thinking of buying an eyeshadow from Mac definitely consider 'Omega' because it is so versatile and would make a staple product in pretty much anyone's makeup bag.

This first gift I think would be perfect for any teen beauty enthusiast. I actually brought this one for a friend but it could also make a great stocking filler. For those people who love to relax and spend their winter nights in a warm bubbly bath then I think a Lush bath bomb would make a lovely present. You could choose out their favourite products and make a thoughtful yet inexpensive gift. I know Lush isn't for everyone but a present like this would show how much time and thought you have put into making it special.
This next present I think would be nice for an older woman although I would love to receive this too *hint hint*. This perfume smells exactly like Coco Chanel and is under £10! I think this particular perfume was featured on 'The One Show' as being similar to the expensive Chanel version. I couldn't find this online but I believe it is around £5 from the Lidl supermarket.
I realised half way through writing this that practically all of the gifts featured were for people who loved beauty although of course not everyone does. So I thought I would add these in as an extra for those people who are really hard to buy for. I would be lying if I said I was creative enough to make these myself but obviously you can tailor them to suit the person you are buying for. These make a great, thoughtful present that anyone would be happy to receive and would cost you little to make. I found these ideas from Pinterest and if you want any more creative home made Christmas gift ideas then Pinterest is a brilliant way to do that!

Autumn is finally here! And you know what that means? A bold lip and cosy pyjamas; my kind of heaven. Today I thought I would show you what sort of makeup look I like to wear at this time of year and I thought it would also be a great opportunity to tell you about some of the products I've been reaching for a lot recently.
For this makeup look I have included some classic 'Autumn Makeup' trends but adapted it so that anyone can wear this look - even if a bold lip isn't your thing!

For the base I used the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation which I have been loving recently because it gives great coverage. I also used the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer under the eyes and on any spots or blemishes that I have.
It will be no surprise to you that for brows I used Mac Omega Eyeshadow and my Real Techniques Brow Brush. (If you want to know more read my September Beauty Favourites post).
For the eyes I used Mac Sketch Eyeshadow - one of my all time favourite eyeshadows for this time of year. With the shade Naked 2 from the Naked Basics Palette in the crease to soften the look and make it more appropriate for day time. Then I used my favourite eyeliner, Collection Extreme 24hr Felt tip Liner to create a 'cat-flick' and make the lashes look a lot fuller. The mascara I used was Soap & Glory Thick & Fast Mascara. Lastly, I took the two eyeshadows I used and lined my waterline to bring the look together.
The blush I used was MUA 'Bubblegum' Blush which I think is great for this look because it adds a natural flush to the cheeks. To contour I used the Avon Glow Bronzer in the hollows of my cheek bones, across the forehead, jaw line and down the neck.
Lastly (but by far my favourite) I applied the MUA Matte Lipstick in the shade 'Berry' to add a touch of Autumn to the look. In stick form this lipstick does look a little scary but when applied it gives a lovely 'berry' (as the name suggests!) shade to the lips. What's great is that you can build up the colour so if you want to go for a subtle day-time look you don't have to apply very much and it's only £1 from Superdrug!

This is the first thing I have tried from Smashbox. I think I have held back from buying their products purely because it is slightly on the pricey side. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Smashbox and MAC are made by the same company? I actually received this Photo Op Eyeshadow Trio as a gift but you can buy it from Boots for £22.

The packaging is sleek, black and matte. It's very compact which makes it perfect for travelling. The trio consists of two shimmer shadows and one matte shadow. When swatched the shadows don't appear very opaque, although when applied to the lid the colour does show a little better. I would recommend wearing these eye shadows with a primer because I found that the darker colours are prone to creasing on the eyelid - which for the price I think is a little disappointing. Having said that, they feel very soft to apply, blend seamlessly and are easy to work with.
I would be happy to try more products from Smashbox, however for the price of this eyeshadow trio I do feel that it is not very pigmented compared to the MAC and MUA eyeshadows that I love.

I saw Anna from viviannadoesmakeup.com make this lemon drizzle cake on her YouTube channel and thought I would give it a whirl as she said it tasted delicious. Mine may not have looked as good as Mary Berry's or Anna's but it tasted good for a first attempt - if I do say so myself!
Ingredients: (Makes 16 slices)
225g butter
225g caster sugar
275g self-raising flour
1 tsp baking powder
4 large eggs
4 tbsp milk
grated zest of 2 lemons
For the glaze:
juice of 2 lemons
175g granulated sugar
1. Preheat your oven to 180 C (fan 160 C/350 F/Gas 4). Grease and line a traybake tin measuring 30x23cm and 4cm deep.
2. Add all ingredients into a large mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixer for 1-2 minutes or a wooden spoon for a little longer, until the mixture is smooth.
3. Pour into tin and spread evenly.
4. Bake for 35-40 minutes in a preheated oven, or until springy to the touch.
5. Make the glaze and spoon over the warm cake when it is out of the tin.
6. Leave to cool and then cut into 16 slices.
